The bright red Indian Paintbrush, also called Coast Paintbrush (Castilleja Affinis) is a member of the Figwort / Snapdragon Family (Scrophulariaceae). Their true flowers are less noticeable, but are commonly enveloped by bright red flowerlike bracts. This unusual plant specimen is the Wyoming State Flower, and dyes have been made from the plant as well.
